Description
Effective 1 August 2025 Frankfurt International School in Oberursel is looking for an experienced and qualified Elementary School Inclusion Coordinator/Counselor. The Coordinator/Counselor shall actively engage in self-reflection and professional growth in order to help teachers with a wide range of instructional strategies, and accordingly be well equipped to meet the individual abilities, needs, and learning differences of students.
Length of appointment: Initial two year probationary contract.
In particular, the Coordinator/Counselor shall:
A. COORDINATION OF LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES
Use collaborative strategies to coordinate the ELA, Learning Support, Counseling, SLC, OT, and Speech services
Build and employ systems to ensure student needs are reviewed and met in a cyclical manner
Communicate and partner with parents about services, funding, and progress
Support teachers and SLCs with strategies to address student needs
Complete necessary reports for funding and collaborate with outside funding organizations.
B. ELEMENTARY COUNSELING
Provide support to students who seek advice or are identified or referred for support regarding issues of psychological, social, emotional, and behavioral health and well-being
Participate in the development and delivery of social-emotional teaching
Parent Education: Provide structured opportunities for parents to receive information and guidance regarding the development and challenges of children in Elementary school.
Teacher Education: Provide structured opportunities for teachers to receive information and guidance regarding their classroom practice as it relates to students with special psychological,
emotional, social, and behavioral needs
Emergency Response: Provide support in situations in which members of the school community may require special emotional and social support
Child Protection and Welfare: Act as a key player in securing the protection and well-being of all children in the Elementary School. This includes acting as a safeguarding lead and
participating in child protection response, as appropriate.
C. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
Participate in the FIS Professional Growth and Evaluation process as set forth in the handbook
Participate in professional development activities, in collaboration with colleagues and Through in-service, workshops, and conferences
Use self-reflection and self-assessment to further instruction and professional knowledge
Collaborate in the promotion of a learning culture within the faculty at large
Acquire the skill set required to effectively implement a variety of technology tools to enhance communication, collaboration, differentiation, and instruction.
D. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to a positive and collaborative culture within the faculty and staff and in the exercise of school-wide responsibilities
Show a consistently high standard of conduct and demeanor appropriate for a teaching and learning environment to ensure education of the highest standard
Expect student behavior and performance that assures a well-functioning educational environment that respects and enhances learning
Contribute to an open, friendly, and international environment that promotes intercultural sensitivity and thoughtful communication
Carry out duties and assignments as determined by the principal or head of school
Comply with required standards of attendance, punctuality student safety, and supervision.
E. COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
Demonstrate support of colleagues, students and their families through professional communication that ensures respect, confidentiality, and positive representation of the faculty as a whole
Communicate effectively and constructively with colleagues, students, parents and administrators to support coherence, trust, and mutual support
Demonstrate respect for fairness, confidentiality, and cultural differences
Address student and family information with appropriate discretion and integrity
Communicate constructively and in a timely manner with parents about student learning and development, using methods agreed upon.

Requirements
Counseling Degree is required. A teaching degree with experience in an international school environment is preferred
