Kent School District, located just 18 miles south of Seattle, is the fourth largest school district in the state.
We have 40 schools that serve over 27,000 students. With a population approaching 150,000 and a geographic area of over 70 square miles, the Kent School District includes the cities of Kent, Covington, and various other residential communities. An abundance of recreational, sporting, and cultural activities is within easy driving distance. Excellent museums, performing arts centers, theaters, professional sports, and activities such as boating, hiking, and skiing are also within close proximity. The Kent School District has received numerous state and national awards. Seven schools have been designated as National Blue Ribbon Schools. Kent Mountain View Academy was selected as a Great Schools award winner from the Center for Educational Effectiveness. This award recognized KMVA as being among the top 5% highest-improving Washington schools in reading and mathematics over the last five school years. Several principals have received state recognition. Kent School District was also one of three districts selected to receive the Diversity Award from the Washington State School Directors' Association.
